What does Life Education Offer Your school?

We have four mobile classrooms covering schools in Oxfordshire, west and central Berkshire. Each classroom is accompanied by a highly trained Educator who will deliver eight different age appropriate health and drug education programmes to pupils aged 3 – 11 years. As well as all children in the school participating in their own lessons, a session is offered for all parents to visit the classroom and see what their children have been learning about and have the opportunity to ask questions.

How to book a Life Education Visit to your school?

Initially, contact Rowena Gaston, Operations Manager on 07962 372626

What does the visit entail?

Before the visit....... Once you have booked a visit and the date has been agreed, you will receive a letter and a booking confirmation. One of our Educators will then contact the school to arrange a pre-visit and to discuss the timetable for the visit.
The Educator will liaise with the school regarding the timetable and we will endeavour to fit the class times around your school timetable and regular events.
The pre-visit will involve the Educator visiting the school to decide where the classroom will be sited and meeting the staff to talk to them about what will be covered with the pupils during the visit. Preparation material is left with the school to allow teachers to prepare the children for the visit. A suggested letter to be sent home to parents is also provided. The Educator and towing contractor will agree a time when the classroom will be delivered to the school.

During the visit....... We ask that all class teachers attend their pupil’s sessions so that they can experience the learning that has taken place. As well as all children in the school participating in their own lessons, a session is offered for all parents to visit the classroom and see what their children have been learning about and have the opportunity to ask questions.
At the end of the visit, each class teacher is provided with a workbook (which can be photocopied for your own use) containing activities to enable follow up work to take place. The school is also asked to complete and an evaluation form and a certificate is presented.

How much does it cost?

Life Education Centres is a charity which provides a unique public service to the community. Although we meet the national curriculum and government guidelines for health and drug education, we do not receive any significant Government funding. The schools we visit contribute towards the cost but we rely on fundraising to bring in the balance.
Schools are charged from £3.10 - £4.70 (2007/08) per pupil per year, depending on the number of pupils on the school roll. Funding can be made available, please contact the Operations Manager.
